DR MICHAEL NDUKAIHE IHEKWABA
Dr. Michael Ndukaihe Ihekwaba (Miller) was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Miller Williams Ihekwaba from Amiyi-Obilohia, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria. He is an accomplished Occupational Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) professional, with extensive expertise in Occupational Health and Safety in Process plants (Oil & gas), Site Traffic Management Systems (STMS) and intelligent transportation infrastructure.
Dr. Ihekwaba currently serves as an HSSE Technical Assistant with a reputable international organization dealing with Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) in the State of Qatar, where he oversees health, safety, security and environmental compliance in process plant involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) and other critical infrastructure and process for getting LNG as end product.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Agricultural Engineering (Farm Power and Machinery Engineering option) from the prestigious Federal University of Technology Owerri, obtained during the 2007/2008 academic session. In further advancement of his professional career, he has earned several international professional certifications and is an active member of multiple professional bodies that guide and strengthen his practice in health, safety, and environmental management.
Dr. Ihekwaba began his professional career with the Nigerian Breweries Plc, operating under the umbrella of the Heineken, where he served as a Brand Developer across Nigeria from 2008 to 2012. This role provided him with significant exposure across different regions of the country and enabled him to communicate in and understand several Nigerian languages.
Driven by the pursuit of broader opportunities, he relocated to Qatar in 2012, where he has since built a remarkable career in HSSE and traffic systems management. Over the years, he has contributed to several landmark national projects, including stadium infrastructure, Highway Automated Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), the Doha Metro Gold Line, major highway construction, and the installation and maintenance of intelligent traffic systems supporting Qatar’s smart mobility vision.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Ihekwaba has demonstrated strong commitment to community leadership, volunteerism, and faith-based service both in Nigeria and Qatar. He previously served two successful terms as General Secretary of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization in Qatar, after which he was elected President, reflecting the confidence and trust reposed in his leadership by the Nigerian community.
In recognition of his contributions to community development and leadership, he has been honored with an Honorary Doctorate Award in Ethical and Strategic Leadership. He also serves as a Community Adviser to the Qatar Ministry of Labour, providing guidance on community engagement and welfare matters affecting expatriate communities.
Dr. Ihekwaba has also been actively involved in global sporting events through volunteer service. He served as a Team Lead in the volunteer program of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy during preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, contributing to the successful delivery of the historic tournament.
A dedicated family man, Dr. Michael Ndukaihe Ihekwaba (Miller) is happily married to Mrs. Joy Udochi Ihekwaba, and their union is blessed with two sons: Destiny Ibe Ihekwaba and Michael ChukwuEbuka Ihekwaba.
